This renovation reimagines a traditional villa through the addition of a contemporary two-storey extension, creating a home that balances heritage character with the needs of modern family living. Guided by a clear architectural vision, the design carefully respects the existing home while introducing bold new forms that confidently express the contemporary addition.

Working within a constrained site presented a number of design challenges, including close boundary setbacks, limited space, and the careful integration of old and new. Clean architectural lines, contrasting cladding materials, and a considered composition create a striking visual distinction between the original villa and the extension, allowing each element to celebrate its own identity while working together as a cohesive whole.

Internally, the extension provides generous new living spaces that enhance the functionality of the home while strengthening the connection between indoor and outdoor living. Natural light, improved spatial flow, and a more contemporary layout have transformed the way the home is experienced, creating bright, welcoming spaces designed for everyday life.

By embracing the contrast between traditional architecture and contemporary design, this project demonstrates how thoughtful planning can breathe new life into an existing home. The result is a seamless blend of old and new, creating a timeless family residence that honours its history while confidently looking to the future.
