This project focused on improving the way this home functions while preserving the architectural character that makes it special. Rather than undertaking a large extension, the design introduced a series of carefully considered interventions that enhance everyday living and strengthen the relationship between each space.
A former laundry was transformed into a contemporary combined bathroom and laundry, with plumbing reconfigured to create a more practical and efficient layout. At the heart of the home, the removal of the original brick chimney opened new opportunities to connect the living and kitchen areas, replacing a solid barrier with bespoke open shelving that provides both storage and a visual link between the spaces.
A new opening alongside the shelving further improves circulation, allowing the home to feel brighter, more open, and better connected while still maintaining a sense of definition between rooms. Additional wardrobe space was also incorporated into the adjoining bedroom, making the most of every square metre.
Throughout the project, careful attention was given to respecting the home’s original architectural qualities. Contemporary materials and refined detailing sit comfortably alongside the existing character, creating a renovation that feels considered, timeless, and seamlessly integrated rather than simply new.
