This project involved the adaptive reuse of an existing residential property to create a welcoming and functional chiropractic practice. The design sought to retain the character of the original home while introducing a calm, contemporary interior tailored to the needs of both practitioners and patients.
The existing building was reconfigured with minimal structural intervention, allowing the project to be delivered efficiently while making the most of the home’s generous proportions and natural light. A warm, nature-inspired material palette of timber, soft neutrals and earthy tones was selected to promote a sense of comfort and wellbeing from the moment patients arrive.
The reception and waiting area was designed to feel more like a residential lounge than a traditional healthcare environment, creating a relaxed first impression. Treatment rooms were planned to maximise privacy, functionality and accessibility, while providing practitioners with efficient workspaces and integrated storage. Throughout the project, accessibility requirements were carefully considered, ensuring clear circulation, an accessible entry and amenities that support patients of all abilities.
Externally, the existing dwelling was refreshed with a restrained palette, new landscaping and improved accessibility, enhancing the property’s street presence while maintaining its residential character within the surrounding neighbourhood.
The completed project successfully demonstrates how an existing home can be thoughtfully adapted into a professional healthcare practice, delivering a welcoming, compliant and highly functional environment that balances patient comfort with the practical requirements of a modern chiropractic clinic.
