This staged office renovation was designed to support a growing professional practice by increasing workplace capacity while maintaining business continuity throughout construction. Working within the constraints of an existing commercial building—including limited window locations and substantial structural concrete columns—the design focused on creating functional, light-filled workspaces that complemented the firm’s established interior aesthetic.
The first stage reconfigured the western wing to deliver additional private offices alongside an open-plan workspace for support staff and junior team members. Existing underutilised areas were transformed into productive work environments, with office layouts carefully planned to maximise access to natural light by aligning rooms with the building’s existing window positions. A collaborative work area was also incorporated to encourage informal meetings, mentoring and team-based project work.
The second stage considered the long-term needs of the business by reimagining the boardroom and staff facilities. The proposal explored subdividing the existing boardroom to create a more flexible meeting space while retaining a generous boardroom for larger presentations and client meetings. The staff room was expanded to comfortably accommodate the firm’s growing team, providing a practical and welcoming space for breaks and informal interaction.
Throughout the project, the design language remained consistent with the firm’s existing fit-out. Crisp white walls are complemented by rich timber feature panelling, concrete-inspired finishes and full-height glazed partitions that promote openness while maintaining acoustic separation between offices. Warm wall lighting softens the commercial environment, while grey carpet flooring, dark window furnishings and bespoke joinery create a cohesive and professional workplace.
A key consideration was ensuring the renovation integrated seamlessly with the existing office, preserving essential secure areas while delivering a contemporary environment that supports collaboration, privacy and future growth. The result is a refined workplace that balances functionality with a calm, sophisticated aesthetic, providing staff and clients with an environment that is both highly practical and representative of the firm’s professional identity.
